The debate began after photos of youths wearing “TOB” shirts surfaced from the September Gen Z protests. Many users claimed it stood for “Tibetan Original Bloodline,” accusing Tibetans of hijacking the movement. Rapper and adviser Surendra “Hakim” Gurung clarified that “TOB” means “The Original Brothers,” a motorcycle group with diverse members, not a political group. Gurung said the issue has been distorted, fueling racism and false links to the Free Tibet movement.
