Canberra, 8 September 2026: Australian MP Dr Sophie Scamps has called on China to halt large-scale mega-dam and mining projects in Tibet, warning that unchecked development threatens the environment, water security and livelihoods of millions of people across Asia.
Speaking in the Australian Parliament, Dr Scamps expressed her deepest condolences to the Tibetan and Nepalese communities following the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet and the loss of lives caused by the disaster.
