Satellite images show China has deployed J-20 stealth fighter jets at airbases closer to India’s northern frontier, according to current defence reporting. Seven J-20s were seen at Hotan airbase in Xinjiang on July 9, about 389 km northeast of Leh and 245 km from Daulat Beg Oldie. Four more were seen at Damxung airbase in Tibet, about 344 km northwest of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Defence analysts said the deployment indicates routine fifth-generation operations from high-altitude bases facing India, while India’s own stealth fighter program remains years away from service.
