DHARAMSHALA, July 28 — Nine-year-old Nagwang Gelek has become the youngest participant in the ongoing Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) chain hunger strike, joining the relay protest on its tenth consecutive day. The TYC chain hunger strike, launched in mid-July in memory of the late Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen, seeks to raise awareness of Beijing's policies in Tibet, including the recently implemented Ethnic Unity and Progress law. Gelek's participation reflects the growing involvement of young Tibetans in exile in advocating for human rights, religious freedom, and the Tibetan people's right to self-determination.
