Remembering Pawo Lobga Rangzen

Today marks the 49th day since Pawo Lobga Rangzen passed away after setting himself on fire in front of the United Nations in protest against China’s Ethnic Unity Law, passed on 2 July 2026, which Tibetans fear will further erode and suppress the Tibetan language, culture, and traditions. In remembrance of Pawo Lobga Rangzen, the Religious Committee of Choklamsar, together with the Tibetan Women’s Association, Ladakh, held a prayer session to honour his life, sacrifice, and commitment to the cause of Tibet. Meanwhile, Students for a Free Tibet initiated a campaign inviting people to write their own promises—pledging to take stronger action and reaffirming their commitment to advocate for Tibet. We also want to express our deepest gratitude to EACH AND EVERY TIBETAN who is doing something for Tibet. No matter how big or small your contribution may seem, IT MATTERS. Every voice matters. Every action matters. Every effort matters. Keep speaking. Keep acting. Keep standing up. Keep advocating for Tibet. Because when each of us takes responsibility, our collective efforts become a powerful voice for Tibet. For Tibet. For our language. For our culture. For our future. Stories of Tibetans is an independent online project dedicated to documenting the lives, experiences, and contributions of Tibetans living across the diaspora. Documenting these stories is both meaningful and financially demanding. We would not be able to continue this work without the generous support of our patrons and individual supporters. We would therefore like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to: @thetibetfund @tenzintattooscafe @dolmasmomopoint @yewong.salon @tsaa.bakery.cafe And our individual patrons: @tlekmon @phuljung_tenzin If you see value in what we are doing and believe these stories deserve to be preserved and shared, you can become a part of our journey by becoming a patron. 📱 WhatsApp:+91 9882162770 📩 DM us for more information.
