Sikyong Warns Downstream Nations Over China’s Dam-Building in Tibet Tibetan political leader Sikyong Penpa Tsering has warned downstream countries about the potential environmental consequences of China’s large-scale dam and infrastructure projects in Tibet. Speaking to the media during the opening ceremony of the Tibet Festival in New Delhi, Penpa Tsering said China was constructing numerous dams and major infrastructure projects across the Tibetan Plateau, raising concerns about their potential impact on the region’s fragile environment and downstream communities. He called for greater environmental accountability from Beijing and urged China to allow independent ecological experts to assess conditions in Tibet and examine the impact of major infrastructure development. Penpa Tsering is the democratically elected political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), widely known as the Tibetan government-in-exile, which is based in Dharamsala, India. #TibetRadioEnglish #Himalayas #TibetRadioNews #Floods #China #Tibet #TibetFloods #WaterSecurity #Brahmaputra #Medog #Nepal #NepalFloods
