Tibetan Leaders Join Peace March in Dharamsala After Lobga Rangzen Prayer
DHARAMSALA, August 20, 2026 — Sikyong Penpa Tsering and senior Tibetan leaders joined thousands of Tibetans in a peaceful march from McLeod Ganj to Dharamsala Police Ground on Thursday, following an official prayer service marking the 49th day since the passing of Tibetan independence activist Lobga Rangzen.
Following the prayer service, Sikyong Penpa Tsering visited the site of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) chain hunger strike in Dharamsala, where he met participants of the ongoing protest.
The Sikyong later joined the peaceful march, which brought together senior figures from the Tibetan government-in-exile and a large number of members of the Tibetan community.
Among those taking part were the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, the Chief Justice Commissioner of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission, members of the Kashag Cabinet, and other senior Tibetan officials.
