The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) has launched an international campaign to counter what it describes as Chinese propaganda and disinformation targeting Tibet and the late Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen. Announced during a press conference in Dharamshala on July 27, the initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated office in New York, led by former TYC Executive Committee members Dhondup Lhadar and Tenzin Lamsang. The organization is calling on Tibetans from all professional backgrounds in New York to join the campaign and help challenge misinformation while amplifying the Tibetan narrative. The campaign comes as TYC continues its relay chain hunger strike in Dharamshala in memory of Lobga Rangzen. TYC Vice President Tashi Dhargyal said nearly 64 Tibetans have participated in the protest so far, which will continue until the 49th day following Lobga Rangzen's passing, in accordance with Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The announcement comes one day after U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern reaffirmed his support for the Tibetan freedom movement during a visit to the site of Lobga Rangzen's self-immolation in New York.
